The Vancouver School Board held its final public meeting of the 2022-2026 term on Sept. 23, 2026. 

Trustees received updates about initiatives across the school district and student experiences, approved several key reports and plans, and heard questions from the public related to student enrolment.

Superintendent's update

The superintendent highlighted the start of the 2026-2027 school year, including summer learning opportunities, professional learning for school leaders and major facilities improvements completed over the summer. The update also highlighted progress in Indigenous learning and belonging, literacy, inclusive education and emerging technologies, as well as the completion of major capital projects, including the Grenfell Elementary seismic upgrade.

Board business

The Board approved the adoption of the audited financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. External auditors reported no significant issues arising from the audit.

It also approved the 2025-2026 Framework for Enhancing Student Learning (FESL) Annual Report for submission to the Ministry of Education and Child Care and the adoption of school learning plans.

Student Trustee Freddie Zhang shared updates about student activities, engagement and leadership opportunities across VSB.

During question period, the Board chair addressed two questions relating to student enrolment.
