Your Schools, Your Voice - Help shape the VSB education plan.
LISTENING TO THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF STUDENTs
The Vancouver School District’s Education Plan 2026 will be a roadmap that will lead the District to improve outcomes for students.
We asked students, families, staff, and the public to share their expectations and aspirations for Vancouver schools.
WHAT IS THE EDUCATION PLAN?
The plan focuses on the District’s core goals to support student achievement and well-being. Like strategic plans, the Board developed goals and objectives that will guide the District for the next five years.
WHY A NEW PLAN?
The District’s former strategic plan expired in 2021.
As a large and diverse school district, it is important to reflect on the current and changing landscape of Vancouver and its students and to develop a strong plan that will ensure strategic navigation of the changing world and opportunities ahead.
THE PROCESS
A broad range of voices and perspectives helped create a plan that reflects the diverse needs of the District.
We asked students, families, staff and the public to share their expectations and aspirations for Vancouver schools. Their input was vital to help set out a clear and shared vision for the future of public education in Vancouver.
HOW WE GOT HERE
The Knowledge Gathering phase had three components:
- Sessions to hear directly from students. Trustees and staff visited more than 40 schools.
- Surveys to gather input of students, their families, staff, the broader public and community organizations throughout Vancouver.
- Focus groups sessions with students, students' families, staff and other stakeholders.

Meetings also took place between the Board and the xʷməθkʷəyəm(Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
The Board considered the input received as it developed goals and objectives of the Education Plan 2026.
