Program Objectives

Canuck Place provides care for children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The School Program at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice offers both an in-house school program and online school support for school-aged children (K-12) from B.C. and the Yukon. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the teacher is an integral part of the holistic care that children and their families receive while at Canuck Place.

Referral Process

Students who are receiving care and supports from the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice Program are eligible to receive educational programming and support with the School Program.

Transition Planning

The School Program teacher shares pertinent information with the appropriate school and community partners to enhance care in the regular school and the community.
