1.  Introduction to Photography

In this unit you will define photography and begin to find out how your camera works.

2.  Meeting your Camera

In this unit you will explore photography by introducing you to the basics of your digital camera and how to care for it.

3.  Choosing a Subject

One of the challenges that all photographers face is creating a great image. In this unit, we will explore some of the elements that go into creating great photographs.

4.  Elements of Composition

The key to taking great photographs is knowing what elements make a good photograph and using those elements to help you put a great photograph together. In this unit you will look at some of the elements that can create a great photograph.

5.  Backgrounds & Foregrounds

If you look at a photograph that makes you feel as if you are standing in that location, seeing the same scene as the photographer, you are looking at a great photograph. In this unit you will learn how to make a photograph interesting.

6.  Managing and Editing Photos

In this unit, you will look at some of the technical computer aspects that affect and influence photography, including the file type an image is saved as and using photo-editing software.

7.  Vacation Photos

For many people, photographs are a way of capturing and creating memories of their vacation. You will consider some of the ways that you can spice up your vacation photographs and create images that really do capture what you see on your travels.

8.  The Wild Side

Animals can be cute, exotic, scary, and beautiful. They can be large or small, have interesting patterns, convey emotions, and behave in fascinating ways. In this unit you will identify common problems found in photographing wild animals and pets.

9.  Photographing People

One of the most common photography subjects is people. We photograph people at events, on vacations, and in our homes. We photograph people to capture memories and to create representations of the people around us. In this unit you will see how light affects photographs of people and find ways for improving images of people.

10.  Photographer Etiquette & Display

It is important to know that photographers also have responsibilities. You cannot just photograph anything you see or do whatever you want with photographers. In this unit you will learn about printing and displaying your photographs.
