Introduction
What will your future hold after you leave high school? Career Education 8 provides an opportunity for students to begin thinking about their future. Through self-reflection and personal development, students can begin examining their strengths, preferences and skills. This course is a first look into creating a future life and career plan. The course will take approximately 40 hours to complete. What career and life paths will you choose for yourself after high school? Are you ready?

Brief Outline
Unit | Description |
Introduction |

Module 1 | Personal Development . In this module the course examines your interests, strengths and values through a survey. It will also take a closer look at 3 careers. You will examine some possible career options which match your interests, strengths and values. |
Module 2 | Connections to Community . In this module, we examine the importance of connections with others in our families, in school, and in the greater community and get their help and support in finding a satisfying job or career. From talking with these support people, they can offer suggestions and help in plotting out your career map. The module also takes a closer look at what the “labour market” means, what types of jobs are out there and how many employees are available for that type of work. |
Module 3 | Life and Career Path . In this module you will look at ways to get to your destination. Also, you will be learning about the impact that technology has in defining who you are to future employers. You will also be learning about basic employment rights and how to keep yourself safe on the job. |
