Introduction

You will continue to develop your math competencies in Reasoning & Analyzing, Understanding & Solving, Communicating & Representing and Connecting & Reflecting while extending and broadening knowledge of topics that you have learned up to Math 8.

You will learn about other types of rational numbers, be introduced to powers and polynomials, continue to solve complex linear equations through word problems, delve further into graphing on the Cartesian plane, develop spatial reasoning and consider how statistics is used in our society.

Brief Outline

Unit 

Description 

Financial Literacy

You will learn about budgets and simple transactions

Exponents 

You will learn how to simplify powers using exponent laws

Polynomials

You will learn how to add, subtract, multiply and divide polynomials

Rational Numbers 

You will learn how to simplify more complex expressions with various types of rational numbers using order of operations

Linear Relations

You will continue to graph linear relations, but also learn how to guess values when needed

Linear Equations

You will practice solving multi-step equations in the context of word problems

Proportional Reasoning

You will learn how to apply proportional reasoning in the context of spatial problems

Statistics

You will learn how to better interpret statistics that you see all around you
