Introduction
The purpose of Interpersonal and Family Relationships 11 is to provide students with a broad overview of how relationships form and change. Students will explore a variety of relationships including work relationships, friendships, and committed relationships. IAFR11 examines how these relationships evolve and end, and it will also give an overview of effective communication, wellness, and safety in interpersonal relationships. The course concludes with a choice of research projects.
Where does this course fit?
- Pre-requisite: This Grade 11 course is also open to Grade 12 and 10 students who have completed Social Studies 10.
- Graduation Status: One of the Grade 10/11/12 ADST/Arts Education options for graduation

Methods of Communication | The different forms of communication and the variety of ways we use communication. |
Understanding Relationships | The many types of relationships and how to build and maintain successful relationships. |
Marriage and Commitment Customs | How marriage varies from culture to culture and from person to person as well as how it can evolve over time. |
Wellness and Safety in Relationships | Introduction to healthy and unhealthy relationships and how to differentiate between the two. |
