Introduction

Japanese 12 is a course for serious students of the Japanese language. By the end of Japanese 12, it is expected that students will have also learned humble and honorific language, to a basic degree, besides the passive, causative, and passive/causative forms.

This goes beyond what is generally expected at the high school level. One hundred and seventy-six new kanji (beyond the Introductory and 11 Courses) are introduced, and students are expected to be able to read and write them in context. Each module includes helpful cultural information.
